Coventry Quaker Meeting House
Originating in the mid-eighteenth century the Trust is a Quaker educational foundation. However, grants are in no way limited to Quakers, and are available to all girls and young women living within the city of Coventry.
The Trust assists girls and young women still at school, or for young women, under 30 years on first application, by means of monetary grants.
Who we help and how
Soothern & Craner have helped many people over the two hundred odd years that it has been in existence.
Grants have been given for many many trips to Plas Dol y Moc! Having started with supplying education in our own buildings in the 1700s when slates and chalks were used, in 2020 we bought laptops to enable schooling at home to continue during the pandemic lockdown and this continued in 2021. We're delighted that Coventry Council provide computers through their community and voluntary sector services.
We have enabled applicants to buy school uniforms and travel expenses, and given grants for extra costs for courses including accommodation, tuition, and registration costs. As we cover a wide age range we've supplied grants from primary school through to women studying for Masters in Veterinary Science, Medicine, Vocal Studies, and Applied Sciences.
